Cheers to 5 Incredible Years of Growth and Impact!
A message from OMSMPC General Manager
Around five years ago, after a several-month-long process, I was asked why I was still interested in setting up our cooperative.
I answered that I saw it as a
“great opportunity, not just for the thousands of Filipinos to build their small businesses but also for me to take part in this incredibly important mission.”
I believed in its potential to
“unlock the lifeblood of business growth in the small sellers while enabling better, long-term relationships with the government.”

On my first day as the founding general manager and employee #1, we only had 4 PCs, 2 printers, and an office table—all borrowed and "pre-loved"! We had some members, but they were mostly non-compliant with incomplete documents. There was no logo, no social media community, no training, or any member engagement other than the usual payout follow-up emails. Unlike today, we were practically begging for companies to hear us talk about our advocacy and business model. Back then, we already foresaw future growth and wanted to work with big financial institutions, but only one, Unionbank, welcomed us. Outside of Lazada and our Cooperative, you can count on one hand the number of people who believed us.

Five years on and I’m overwhelmed with the progress and the groundbreaking impact we have made so far - not only to our members but also to other online seller groups, the Cooperative sector, and the bigger eCommerce community. Today, we are 19k members-strong, supported by 31 employees with the direction and leadership of 22 elected and appointed officers.

As I also approach my fifth year with the cooperative, I hope that OMSMPC continues on its path toward putting humanity and principled stewardship at the forefront of everything that it does. While there have been several success stories, I hope that we can also draw attention to our members who are still struggling and have limited access to financial and social progress. While we celebrate, let’s not forget why we’re here in the cooperative, which is to ensure all of our progress and rise together.

Thanks to the efforts of our staff and officers, we have a stronger relationship with the CDA, the cooperative sector, and the rest of our government partners. Thanks to the contributions of our 19k member-owners, we are able to support our own members in their personal and business growth, while also contributing to the development of the local communities and groups who need it.
