Barangka Credit Cooperative Welcomes OMSMPC Officers and Staff

OMSMPC’s Lakbay Aral to BCC

Last September 12, 2022, the OMSMPC Education and Training Committee and management went for an educational tour or “Lakbay Aral” to the Barangka Credit Cooperative in Marikina, one of the billionaire cooperatives in the Philippines.
Barangka Credit Cooperative, or BCC (formerly known as UTEX Employees Credit Cooperative, Inc.), is a savings and credit cooperative with more than 20,000 members and has more than one billion in revenue as of the end of 2021. It started in 1986 with its 37 founders. Almost four decades later, BCC has become one of the most successful cooperatives in the Philippines.
Ms. Veronica Carreon, Chairperson of the Education Committee, led the OMSMPC delegation with Vice-Chairman Mr. Serjoe Rosal and Secretary Ms. Gladys Cumagun. Also, with them are Niña Bacani, Roch Sacro, and JP Cario to represent the management team.
They were welcomed by the BCC staff to their main office in Marikina City. Ms. Rona Garque, the BCC Training Associate, gave a short discussion about the history, principles, and services of their cooperative. She also gave an overview of the products and services offered by BCC and how their members’ patronage greatly contributed to BCC’s success.

The team also had the opportunity to be joined by the President and CEO of BCC, Mr. Roberto C. Mascariña. Mr. Roberto encouraged the OMSMPC delegates by reminiscing about the early days of BCC and that all great things start from small.
